A down-and-out 1940s-era crime writer finds himself living in today’s Hollywood. Depressed, deluded, yet determined, he plays it cool as he navigates this fever dream of an existence in order to finally write his masterpiece…or so it seems until a moment of clarity brings everything into focus. A satirical take on the manic, creative process of the writer, Benny’s Lament upends the weightiness of film noir to comedic yet poignant effect.
